Cheese Strata
baked, breakfast, crockpot
10 slices bread
1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese; grated
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
3 eggs
5 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons chopped parsley for garnish; (optional)
Butter bread and cut into cubes (or leave whole). Layer in baking dish, alternating with grated cheese. Mix milk, salt and eggs. Beat and pour over bread and cheese. Let stand several hours or overnight.
Bake at 275°F for 45 minutes.
NOTES : An alternative breakfast casserole of cheese, bread and eggs.
