German Applesauce Meatloaf Aunt Matilda

1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 cup onion, fine chopped
1 cup applesauce
1 large egg
1 cup bread crumbs (see note)
3 tablespoon ketchup
2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper, black

Preheat oven to 350 deg f. Lightly ooiol a 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Place meatloaf mixture in pan. Bake 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Let cool 10 - 15 minutes. Turn out of pan. Slice and serve. NOTE: if necessary, add more bread crumbs, a tablespoon at a time, to make loaf firm.
