German Pea Soup

1 ham bone with some meat
1 water to cover
2 large onions
2 diced potatoes
1 can peas
1 salt and pepper
1 spatezele:
2 cup flour
2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
Place bone in pot with some meat still on bone. cover with water. add onions and salt and pepper. Bring to boil and cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours. add potatoes and cook 10 minutes covered. Add spatezeles and cook 10 minutes uncovered. Add peas to soup with some cut up meat from ham bone. For spatezele: combine ingredients to make a sticky batter. Mix and drop by 1/2 teaspoonsful into boiling soup.Note: you can always add more canned peas to soup as desired.
